Matt and Ryan met while attending Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. They planted roots in Central Florida and started Lumen Counseling in 2020.

Their dream was to develop a practice that offered therapists an environment of support, community, and ongoing education. The counseling profession can strangely be an isolating one, and they wanted Lumen to be a team of like-minded therapists who value living connected to others. By fostering their own relational thriving and professional development, they believe this growth mindset will lead to flourishing for both the Lumen team and their clients.

Named after the measurement of light, Lumen Counseling exists to help you discover your light, to reveal the color that comes alive as your light shines. Our colors can dull over time as things pile on top of us — toxic relationships, mental illness, trauma — but it’s Lumen’s mission to uncover your light, to bring color back into your life.
